Kambu Idly


Kambu (Pearl Millet) is a nutrient-packed grain that you can use in many ways. It's rich in B vitamins, Magnesium, Potassium, phosphorus, Iron and zinc. It is an excellent source of fiber, antioxidants and protein. It helps lower your risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease and some neurological diseases.

Type - South Indian
Preparation Time - 20 mins
Cooking Time - 10 Mins
Serves - 10 to 12 pieces
Served with - Coconut Chutney / Tomato Chutney / Dhall Chutney / Brinjal Chutney

Ingredients:For Batter:Pearl Millet (Kambu) - 1 cup
Urad Dhall (Ulundu) - 1/2 cup
Fenugreek (Vendayam) - 1/6 spoon (20 to 30 pieces)
Salt - As required

Method:First, In a pan, Add Kambu with water and wash well.
In another pan, Add Urad dhall with fenugreek and wash well.
Then Marinate Kambu and Urad dhall in water for 4 hours.
After 4 hours, Move Kambu to blender and grind well like batter.
Move Urad Dhall to blender and grind well like batter.
Mix both together with salt and keep aside.
In Idly cooker, Place the idly plate, Add the ghee and pour the mix.
Steam cook for 15 mins, Check and remove the cooked idly.
Served with - Coconut Chutney / Tomato Chutney / Dhall Chutney / Brinjal Chutney. :)
