Podi Kolukattai


Type - South Indian
Preparation Time - 10 mins
Cooking Time - 20 Mins
Serves - 3 to 4 persons
Served with - Coconut Chutney / Tomato Chutney / Dhall Chutney / Brinjal Chutney

Ingredients:
For Masala Powder:
Channa dal (Kadalai Paruppu) - 1/2 spoon
Cumin Seeds (Jeerakam) - 1/4 spoon
Urad Dal - 1/2 spoon
Red Chilli - 1
Pepper - 10
Coconut - 1/4 spoon

For Dough:
Rice Flour (Arisi Maavu) - 2 cups
Salt - 1 pinch
Hot Boiling Water - As required
Ghee - 1 spoon

For Frying:
Oil - 1 spoon
Mustard (Kadugu) - 1/2 spoon
Channa dal (Kadalai Paruppu) - 1/2 spoon
Ginger - 1/4 inch piece
Onion - 1
Green Chilli - 2
Curry Leaves - As required

Method:
First in a pan, Add Channa dal, Urad Dal, Pepper, Cumin Seeds, Red Chilli and fry well.
Then Add Coconut and fry for 2 to 3 mins.
Move to blender and grind as coarse shown in picture and keep aside.
In a bowl, Add the Rice Flour, Salt and Ghee.
Add the rice flour with Hot water and mix well until the dough becomes consistent.
Take small piece of dough and form like a small ball as shown in picture.
Keep in Idli steamer and steam it for 10 to 15 mins and keep aside.
Now, In a pan, Add oil, Mustard, Curry leaves, Onion, Green Chilli and fry until it turns to golden colour.
Now, Add the steamed kolukattai balls and mix well.
Now, Add the coconut masala and mix well with kolukattai and fry for 5 mins and keep aside.
Serve and Enjoy. :)
