Thinai Kozukattai / Foxtail Millet balls



Type - South Indian
Preparation Time - 5 mins
Cooking Time - 10 Mins
Serves - 3 persons
Served with - Coconut Chutney / Tomato Chutney / Dhall Chutney / Brinjal Chutney

Ingredients:
Foxtail Millet (Thinai) – 1/2 cup
Oil – 1 spoon
Mustard Seeds (Kaduku) – 1/2 spoon
Urad dal (Ulundu Paruppu) – 1/2 spoon
Cumin Seeds (Jeerakam) – 1/4 spoon
Curry leaves – 10 leaves
Onion – 2
Green Chilli – 2
Carrot – 1
Coconut – 1/4 cup
Water – 2 cups
Salt - As required
Coriander leaves - A handful

Method:
In a pan, Add Oil, Mustard, Urad dal and Cumin seeds, Add curry leaves.
Add the onions, Chillies and stir.
Add the carrots and cook for couple of mins.
Add the thinai and stir well. Add water, salt and bring it to a boil. Cover and simmer for 15 mins till it is cooked.
Add coconut and coriander leaves and mix well. Let this cool a little.
Now shape it into balls and place it in a steamer. Steam cook for 8 to 10 mins.

Serve and enjoy. :)
