Instant Tomato Pepper Rasam (South Indian)


Dear friends, Today I'm going to share our family's special recipe for winter season - Tomato Pepper Rasam. This is my favourite recipe from my Mom's kitchen.

Type - South Indian
Preparation Time - 5 mins
Cooking Time - 10 Mins
Serves - 3 persons
Served with - Rice

Ingredients:
Tomatoes – 3
Tamarind – As required
Water – 2 cups

For Frying :
Oil – 1 spoon
Mustard Seeds (Kaduku) – 1/2 spoon
Curry leaves – 10 Leafs
Green Chilli – 2
Garlic – 4 cloves
Turmeric Powder (Manjal thool) – 1/2 spoon
Pepper Powder (Milagu thool) – 1 spoon
Rasam Powder - 1 spoon
Asafoetida (Perungaya thool) – 1 pinch
Coriander Leaves a handful
Salt to taste
Sugar – 1 tsp

Method:
Add 3 tomatos with tamarind and water and boil it for 10 mins.
Squeeze it and set aside.
Heat oil in a sauce pan, add in mustard, curry leaves and garlic. Nicely fry.
Add the green chillies, Salt, Rasam, Pepper and turmeric powders.
Add boiled tomato tamarind water and add Asafoetida. Mix well.
Bring it to boil and finally add the chopped coriander leaves.

Serve and enjoy. :)
