Ingredients:
Toor Dal (Thuvaram paruppu) – 1 cup
Tomato – 2
Turmeric powder – 1/2 spoon
Salt - As required
For Frying:
Oil – 1 spoon
Curry Leaves - 10 leafs
Mustard Seeds (Kaduku) – 1 spoon
Onion – 2
Brinjal - 1
Red Chilli – 2
Coriander Powder - 1 spoon
Chilli Powder - 1/2 spoon
Tamarind Pulp – 2 spoon
Asafoetida (Perungaya Podi) – 1/2 spoon
Salt - As required
Water as needed
Coriander Leaves a small handful finely chopped
Method:
Wash toor dal in a pressure cooker, Add turmeric and tomato and cook for 3 whistle.
Heat oil in Kadai, Add Mustard Seeds, Curry leaves, Onion, Brinjal and chilli until it is cooked.
Add Sambar Powder, Chilli Powder and Salt.
Add in Tamarind pulp and fry.
Add the cooked dal with the water.
Serve and enjoy. :)
