Ingredients:
Toor Dal (Thuvaram paruppu) – 1 cup
Tomato – 2
Raddish - 1
Turnip - 1
Drumstick - 1
Turmeric powder – 1/2 spoon
For Grinding (Sambar Masala):
Dry Coriander - 2 spoons
Coconut - 1/4 cup
Red Chilli - 2
Jeera - 1/2 spoon
Pepper - 1/4 spoon
For Frying:
Oil – 1 spoon
Curry Leaves - 10 leafs
Mustard Seeds (Kaduku) – 1 spoon
Onion – 2
Green Chilli – 2
Tamarind Pulp – 2 spoon
Asafoetida (Perungaya Podi) – 1/2 spoon
Salt - As required
Water as needed
Coriander Leaves a small handful finely chopped
Method:
Wash toor dal in a pressure cooker, Add turmeric, vegetables and tomato and cook for 3 whistle.
In Kadai, Add the grinding Ingredients and fry. After frying, Grind with little water and keep aside.
Heat oil in Kadai, Add Mustard Seeds, Curry leaves and fry the onion and chilli until it is cooked.
Add the cooked dal with the water.
Add in grinded Sambar masala, Tamarind pulp and fry.
Add the Asafoetida and cook for 10 mins.
Finally, Add in coriander leaves and stir.
Serve and enjoy. :)
