Kala Chana Gravy - Kondakadalai Kulambu


Ingredients:
Kala Chana (Kondakadalai) – 3 cups
Drum Stick – 1
Brinjal – 1
Onion – 1
Tomatoes – 2
Curry leaves - 10 leaves
Tamarind - 1 lemon size
Turmeric Powder (Manjal thool) – 1/2 spoon
Salt - As required
Oil – 4 tblspn

For Masala:
Coconut – 1 cup
Fennel Seeds (Sombu) – 1 spoon
Dry Red Chilli – 5
Garlic – 2

Method:

In a bowl, Add some Tamarind and water. Smash and keep aside.

 Before a day, Soak the kala chana at night. Next day, Remove the old water and wash it.

In a pressure cooker, Add the chana with new water, Brinjal, Drum stick and salt, Cook for 15 whistles until it is soft. 


In a Jar, Grind the masala items to paste and keep aside.



Now place a pan and Add the onions, Curry leaves and fry the onions, then add tomatoes, Salt, Turmeric cook until it is smashed.

 Add the Tamarind syrup.
Add the kala chana into the pan and Add the grinded masala and stir.
Cover and sim cook for 10 mins until it is cooked.

Serve and enjoy.
